Over 320,000 square meters of residential properties found in Yakutsk

In a span of over five months, Yakutia has seen a stunning expansion of dwelling spaces, surpassing last year's figure by a notable 1.5%.

According to the regional Ministry of Construction, individual housing construction has witnessed a significant 31% increase, amounting to an impressive 250,000 square meters. The development of multi-family housing, on the other hand, has reached 70,500 square meters.

The ministry credits this growth to state support initiatives.

The "Far Eastern and Arctic Mortgage" program seems to be making a difference, with Yakutia securing the second spot behind Primorsky Krai in the number of mortgages issued.

The resettlement of citizens from decaying housing units is also underway. As of May 2025, approximately 2,500 people have been relocated from 11,800 square meters of substandard housing. By the year's end, another 5,500 citizens are planned to be relocated, along with over 110,000 square meters of new housing.

Recently, a gathering of the State Council Presidium, presided over by President Vladimir Putin, focused on designing infrastructure for life. Following the meeting, the President ordered the government to draft proposals for further support measures in the housing sector by June 15. These proposals include widening low-interest mortgage programs for families with children under 14 years old and for participants in the special military operation.

Although no direct housing support measures for Yakutia are specifically mentioned in the current state of affairs, general trends and initiatives related to housing and infrastructure development in Russia might offer potential benefits to regions like Yakutia. For instance:

  1. Russia offers a free land grant program for private housing or small businesses, which could potentially aid housing development in regions like Yakutia[3].
  2. The government invests in housing repairs for service members and their families in Arctic military settlements, setting a precedent for similar initiatives in other regions[3].
  3. There is substantial funding for infrastructure development as part of master plans for "anchoring" territories, which could indirectly benefit regions like Yakutia[3].
  4. President Putin has directed the government to rebuild affected border areas, including housing support for residents[5].

However, for explicit support measures in Yakutia, it would be advisable to consult local or regional government announcements or initiatives. Factors such as wildfires and climate change, challenges faced by Yakutia, might lead to future infrastructure and potentially housing support initiatives.

  1. The expansion in Yakutia isn't limited to dwelling spaces; the regional government is also focused on education-and-self-development, announcing plans to invest in scholarships for students and training programs for professionals in different sectors, including general-news reporting and sports coaching.
  2. In a move to promote community engagement in physical activities, the Yakutia government has allocated funds for the establishment of sports facilities and the organization of sports tournaments, aiming to foster a culture of sports and health among its citizens.
