Ostallgäu District Water Rescue Bolsters Leadership with Six New Rapid Response Team Leaders

Six members of the Ostallgäu District Water Rescue have successfully completed a recent training course for rapid response team leaders at the District Water Rescue Training Center in Dillingen. This course equipped them with leadership qualities to take on leadership roles in the district’s four deployable rapid response teams.

The training covered a wide range of topics, including legal fundamentals and practical exercises. Participants also underwent leadership simulation training to prepare them for high-stress situations. Daniela Flietel from Marktoberdorf, one of the participants, found the course challenging but beneficial for her decision-making and communication skills. These teams, equipped and prepared for accidents, missing persons, and large-scale incidents involving water, are now better equipped to handle emergencies. They are on call 24/7 and can be dispatched via the emergency number 112.

A rapid response team leader, now held by these six members, is the commanding officer of a Water Rescue rapid response unit. They are responsible for tactical leadership and coordination, ensuring effective responses to water-related emergencies.

The successful completion of this course has bolstered the Ostallgäu District Water Rescue's leadership capabilities. With six members now prepared to take on leadership roles, the district's four deployable rapid response teams are better equipped to handle water-related emergencies, providing enhanced safety and security to the community.
