Oleg Tabakov Theatre Debuts 'Don’t Part with Those You Love'
The Oleg Tabakov Studio Theatre is set to premiere 'Don’t Part with Those You Love', a poignant tale of love and affection, in its newly renovated basement space. Directed by Arthur Kasimov, a graduate of Oleg Tabakov's school, this marks his debut on the historic stage. The production will run from October 30 to November 23, with ticket prices ranging from 1,500 to 5,000 rubles.
The play, written in 1972, reflects the rising divorce rates in the USSR. It follows Mitya and Katya, a young couple struggling to understand each other, ultimately leading to their divorce. The emotionally charged final scene sees Katya crying out 'I miss you, Mitya!!!'
Set at 1a Chaplygin Street, where the theatre was born, the play weaves in stories of other couples parting ways. Rising stars Sevastyan Smyshnikov and Nelly Khaperskaya bring the roles of Mitya and Katya to life. The production is directed by Arthur Kasimov, a graduate of Oleg Tabakov's school, marking his debut on the historic stage.
