OKMRC Hosts Crucial Trainings on Sleep, Fatigue, and Nutrition
The Oklahoma Medical Reserve Corp (OKMRC) is hosting two crucial trainings this month, focusing on sleep deprivation, fatigue, and nutrition. Led by Dr. Rick Cohen, these sessions aim to equip attendees with strategies to combat these issues and enhance performance and safety.
The first training, 'Sleep Deprivation, Fatigue, Exercise/Response Nutrition & Fitness for Duty', will take place on November 29 from 1:30 to 3:30 AM and again on December 4 from 6:00 PM at the James O. Goodwin Health Center. During these sessions, Dr. Cohen will delve into the impact of sleep deprivation and fatigue on performance and safety, and provide practical mitigation strategies.
The OKMRC encourages volunteering, embodying the Oklahoma Standard of helping neighbors in need. These trainings are open to both medical and non-medical individuals, offering a comprehensive approach to self-care that covers physical, mental, emotional, and financial aspects. Attendees will learn what it means to be 'Fit for Duty' and receive tips to enhance their sleep hygiene. Additionally, two more trainings focused on self-care for first responders and community members are available on the OKMRC website. Each training qualifies for two continuous education hours.
The OKMRC's upcoming trainings provide a valuable opportunity for individuals to learn about managing sleep deprivation, fatigue, and nutrition, and to enhance their overall 'fitness for duty'. Whether you're a medical professional or a community member, these sessions are open to all and offer a chance to gain crucial knowledge and support for maintaining good sleep hygiene.
