A donation of €850 has helped young people in Tönisvorst access outdoor adventures they might otherwise miss. The funds, provided by the local Rotary Club and Apfelblüte e.V., were used to buy camping gear for the town’s Mobile Youth Services. The equipment was officially handed over on a bright winter day at the Youth Leisure Center on Gelderner Straße.

The money came from two sources: the Rotary Club of Tönisvorst and the Apfelblüte e.V. association. Their combined €850 paid for tents, air mattresses, and sleeping bags. These supplies will support activities like camping trips, skate excursions, and overnight bike tours for young people aged 12 and older.

Konstantin Meier, who works with the Mobile Youth Services, explained that many local teenagers lack opportunities to explore nature or travel with friends. The new equipment aims to change that. Birgit Koenen, chair of Apfelblüte e.V., added that outdoor experiences help build confidence and social skills in young people. At the handover ceremony, Mayor Kevin Schagen thanked the donors and organisers. He noted that the project teaches environmental responsibility while giving young people valuable life experiences. The event took place under clear skies, with mild temperatures making the occasion even more pleasant.

The camping gear is now available for youth projects in Tönisvorst. It will be used for trips, festivals, and outdoor activities, particularly for those from disadvantaged backgrounds. The initiative ensures more young people can take part in group adventures and develop new skills in nature.
