Notable Achievements by Students in the Year 2023-24
In the vibrant world of art, film, and design, students and alumni from our esteemed institution have made a significant impact.
Anas Sheikh, a proud alumnus, has been making waves in the fashion industry. His label, 23°N 69°E, was recently featured in Vogue India's Jan-Feb Issue, showcasing his commitment to sustainability and artisanal craftsmanship.
Meanwhile, Anas' label has been highlighted alongside a dynamic generation of designers, reflecting the growing influence of our alumni in the fashion world.
In the realm of film, Tarika Jain, a student in Communication Design, has been making a name for herself. Her film 'Sunni Sunai' explores the theme of fake news in contemporary India and has been nominated for several prestigious awards. Tarika was nominated for the category of Best Animated Short Film (2D/3D) at the 24FPS International Animation Awards 2023, though there are no search results specifying the person who received the nomination.
Tarika's film has also been recognised at the 75th Edition of LA Journal India and she has been nominated for Best Animated Short Film (2D/3D) - Student (India) at the awards.
Karan Kapoor, an alumnus from the Interior Architecture and Design department (2017-2021), has also been making headlines. His brand 'Patterns & Luxury' creates handcrafted furniture and accessories using traditional Indian techniques with a modern twist. Karan was featured in an interview with Bombay Film Production Magazine, where he discussed his design journey, philosophy, and his current brand.
The Interior Architecture and Design student project "Heritage in Design" was also featured in the same magazine, offering cost-effective and innovative ways for visitors to engage with historic precincts sustainably. The project reimagined the monuments of Sunder Nursery, New Delhi to align with contemporary culture, proposing non-invasive methods using traditional and new media techniques.
The students' achievements extend beyond academics, with outstanding accomplishments in research, extracurricular pursuits, and community involvement. During the academic year 2023-2024, students from the institution demonstrated remarkable achievements across diverse disciplines.
Sreeram Jayaram, a Communication Design student from Batch 2019-23, is another shining example. He won the Best Student Film category in the Animation Xpress ANN Award 2023 for his 2D animated film 'The Day My Dad Arrives'.
Mahee Sood, a student, also made headlines when she won the Alee Club Miss India Teen India 2023.
These accomplishments are a testament to the institution's commitment to nurturing talent and fostering innovation in the fields of art, film, and design.
