North East educators gain digital teaching skills in Guwahati workshop
A five-day workshop on digital teaching skills has wrapped up at Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University (KKHSOU) in Guwahati. The event trained 49 educators from five North Eastern states in e-content creation and technology-based teaching methods. Organisers stressed the importance of applying these new skills in schools and colleges across the region.
The Central Institute of Educational Technology (CIET), part of NCERT, partnered with KKHSOU to run the programme. Titled 'e-Content Development for Teachers and Teacher Educators', it featured 20 sessions on scripting, video editing, and audio-visual production. Participants learned how to design digital lessons and use tools for online instruction.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Rajendra Prasad Das led the closing ceremony. He encouraged educators to put their training into practice within their own institutions. The newly trained teachers will now create e-learning materials for national platforms like DIKSHA and PM e-Vidya.
This workshop adds to a long series of similar initiatives. Since 2020, CIET has conducted 47 training programmes across India. In 2021, 12 events included virtual sessions for 5,000 Delhi teachers. The following year saw 18 workshops in states such as Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra. Another 10 took place in 2023, with seven more scheduled for 2024–25.
The educators return to their schools equipped with skills in digital pedagogy and content creation. Their work will contribute to online learning resources used by students nationwide. The programme continues a broader push to modernise teaching methods through technology.
