"GRInD" Program Tackles Social Media's False Ideals
Nordhorn's GRInD Project Blends Fitness, Nutrition and Social Media Savvy for Teens
No more fake filters or TikTok myths: Nordhorn's youth center is launching GRInD – Upgrade 4 Body & Mind, a new project for young people aged 14 to 21.
This isn't about lifting weights for looks—it's about real knowledge of your own body and "bio-hacking" for a healthier life.
Smart Training Over Empty Promises
GRInD stands for Full-Body Routine – Intensive & Dynamic. At its core is a weekly 30-minute fitness circuit, with exercises tailored to individual needs—making it accessible for both beginners and advanced participants. The key feature? Every movement has a direct real-world benefit. Participants learn firsthand how exercise can reduce stress, sharpen focus for school, or eliminate the dreaded "tech neck" from smartphone use.
Personal trainer Patrick Kaminsky of PK Coaching leads the sessions, demonstrating how fitness, quality sleep, balanced nutrition, and a positive mindset can serve as tools for inner balance.
Media Literacy and Lifestyle Insights
Beyond fitness, the project pulls back the curtain on social media's hidden mechanisms. Dr. Luc Albrecht, a Nordhorn native now based in Cologne, exposes the tricks influencers use with lighting and filters, while breaking down how algorithms function—and their commercial motives. Additional partners, like Nordhorn's nutritional counseling service QuEr Vital, offer workshops on "performance food"—meals that genuinely boost energy and fitness instead of leaving you sluggish.
