Nizhny Novgorod students dominate Russia's Economics Olympiad with back-to-back wins
Schoolchildren from the Nizhny Novgorod region have triumphed at the final stage of the All-Russian School Olympiad in Economics. Two students secured first place, while others earned top honours in the competition. Their success continues a strong tradition of achievement for the region in recent years.
Timofey Batsyn, a pupil from Lyceum No. 40 in Nizhny Novgorod, claimed first place in the Olympiad. This marks his second consecutive national victory, bringing his total to seven Olympiad diplomas. His consistent performance highlights his deep understanding of economics.
Andrey Lashkin from Lyceum No. 3 in Sarov also took first place, sharing the top spot. David Glazkov, another student from Sarov's Gymnasium No. 2, was named a prize winner. Zakhar Polev, representing the Center for Gifted Children in Nizhny Novgorod, reached the final round as well. Over the past five years, from 2021 to 2025, the Nizhny Novgorod region has sent 47 students to the Olympiad's final stages. This year's results reinforce the region's reputation for producing talented young economists.
The victories bring recognition to both the students and their schools. Timofey Batsyn's back-to-back wins and the overall performance of the region's participants demonstrate a high level of preparation. The achievements also reflect the growing interest in economics among schoolchildren in Nizhny Novgorod.
