Nizhny Novgorod leads Russia’s workforce retraining with 7,400 locals upskilling
The Nizhny Novgorod region is at the forefront of Russia's Human Resources national project, with over 7,400 locals already retraining for new careers. The region ranks among the top 10 for applications, demonstrating a strong commitment to upskilling its workforce.
More than 80 employers are actively involved, offering retraining at their own or partner educational centers. Over 100 enterprises have collaborated this year to develop training programs. The initiative provides flexible learning options, with both in-person and remote courses using modern distance-learning technologies.
Courses cover 360 in-demand professions, selected based on industry proposals and regional authorities' input. Popular retraining programs in Nizhny Novgorod include courses for programmers, data analysts, tour guides, QA engineers, hotel managers, forestry specialists, and industrial robotics experts. The retraining programs help individuals acquire skills and knowledge that employers need, with over 100,000 Russians nationwide beginning retraining under the project. Applications can be submitted through the Work in Russia digital platform.
