Google Search trends from early 2026 show a clear shift in Nigerians’ priorities. Many are now focusing on entrepreneurship, self-improvement, and well-being. The data highlights a move away from vague New Year resolutions toward more deliberate personal and economic planning.

Searches linked to self-improvement and 'becoming better' jumped by around 40%. Topics like improving relationships and emotional intelligence also gained traction. This reflects a broader interest in personal growth across work, education, and social life.

Well-being became a key concern, with significant increases in queries like 'how to eat healthy' and 'how to meditate'. The trend suggests Nigerians are paying more attention to stress management and mental health. Entrepreneurship remained a dominant theme, as 'how to start a business' was the most searched query. Digital ventures, such as starting a blog or podcast, also saw high search volumes. These patterns indicate a proactive response to economic challenges and evolving work environments. According to Taiwo Kola-Ogunlade, Google’s Communications and Public Affairs Manager for West Africa, the data reflects collective ambition. The insights come from Google Search activity recorded in early January 2026.

The search trends reveal a growing emphasis on skills development and intentional living. Nigerians are increasingly seeking ways to adapt to economic realities while prioritising mental and professional growth. The data underscores a shift toward structured, long-term personal and financial planning.
