New Art Majors Unveiled: Illustration and Digital Photography BFA Courses Under Sessions' Leadership
Sessions College of Visual Arts, a pioneer in online education since 1997, is proud to announce the launch of two new online Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) programs: BFA in Illustration and BFA in Digital Photography. These innovative programs, designed specifically for adult learners, aim to provide a modern, flexible, and professionally oriented curriculum that nurtures both creative innovation and technical mastery.
Interested individuals can visit the BFA in Illustration and BFA in Digital Photography information pages and contact the Admissions team to learn more about these exciting new opportunities.
The goal for students at the end of the program is to graduate with a portfolio showcasing specific strengths in their chosen area(s) of study or creative expression. To achieve this, students will work closely with faculty, designing their coursework in alignment with their creative or career aspirations.
The programs are designed to be completed in under four years, with a duration of 3 years and 4 months. Throughout their studies, students will receive individualized feedback and mentoring from qualified veteran faculty and industry-leading professionals.
Students who enroll will earn a BFA, 100% online, with 75% of course credits focused on art/design studies. The programs offer an online learning experience, with extensive opportunities to develop technical skills such as digital imaging, sketching, drawing, and visual storytelling tailored for both analog and digital contexts.
In the Illustration program, students can experiment with various media including collage, mixed media, comics, and graphic novels. The Digital Photography program integrates foundational and advanced digital photography techniques, covering digital tools, composition, photo history, and practical applications relevant to contemporary fields like photojournalism, fashion photography, and digital media production.
Both programs emphasize industry-relevant software and technical foundations, with a focus on computer imaging, digital layout, computer graphics, and typography related to artistic disciplines. A foundational requirement of certain graphic design courses ensures well-rounded skill development before full BFA acceptance.
Sessions College of Visual Arts may offer access to specialized studios, digital labs, and exhibition spaces to simulate real-world art practice environments, supporting art creation and presentation.
The BFA programs are one of the few online Bachelor's programs actually designed for adult learners. Sessions College of Visual Arts thanks all staff, faculty, advisors, and students who contributed to or inspired the development of the BFA programs during challenging times.
More information on program features, how the program was created, featured faculty, and more will be released this fall. The new BFA programs will start on Monday, Sept 27th for new students and September 6th for AOS grads.
Sessions College of Visual Arts is recognized for its affordable tuition and no hidden fees, no textbooks to purchase, and full-time and part-time students are charged at the same tuition rate. The programs are accessible to students in different time zones across the U.S. and overseas, regardless of location.
