Morehouse School of Medicine Secures $1M to Diversify Future Doctors

Morehouse School of Medicine (MSM) has secured a $1 million grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF). This funding will expand leadership and pathway programs, ensuring a robust pipeline of diverse medical talent. MSM’s president, Dr. Valerie Montgomery Rice, described this investment as a crucial step towards enhancing access to quality care across communities.

The RWJF grant will support MSM’s Satcher Health Leadership Institute (SHLI) and the Office of Educational Outreach and Health Careers (EOHC). These programs guide students from primary education through to professional training, ensuring a strong pipeline of diverse medical talent.

The $1 million grants from RWJF and Bloomberg Philanthropies will fortify MSM’s capacity to train and support future doctors. The funds will bolster educational pathways and leadership programs, ensuring more communities receive equitable, high-quality medical care. Both investments underscore a growing emphasis on diversifying the healthcare workforce and improving health outcomes nationwide.
