Model's Importance Explained | Unveiling the Inner Workings of Architectural Designs

In an exciting opportunity for architecture enthusiasts, a workshop led by Los Angeles-based architecture studio Spinagu is set to delve into the intricacies of the renowned Japanese architect Sou Fujimoto's design process. The workshop, titled "SOU FUJIMOTO: FUTURES OF THE FUTURE," will take place in the Level 2 Gallery.

The program is broken into three sections. The first section is an architect-led walkthrough and discussion of the SOU FUJIMOTO: FUTURES OF THE FUTURE exhibit in the Level 2 Gallery. This segment offers a unique opportunity to gain insights into Fujimoto's innovative approach to architecture.

The second section of the program takes place in the 5F Salon, where the designers introduce the fundamentals of model-making. Participants will learn techniques such as scale modeling, precise cutting and assembling, and the use of sustainable materials, which aligns with Fujimoto's design philosophy.

The final section of the workshop is a hands-on experience, where participants are led through the creation of their own architectural model. Each ticket provides one model for the participant to take home after the workshop.

Materials used in the workshop typically include cardboard, foam board, basswood, acrylic sheets, cutting tools like X-Acto knives and scalpels, adhesives such as glue and double-sided tape, paper, wire, pins, markers for detailing, and sometimes laser cutters or 3D printers if technology is involved.

The workshop is scheduled for two additional dates: Saturday, December 1 (11:00 AM - 1:00 PM and 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM) and Saturday, December 8 (11:00 AM - 1:00 PM and 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM). Minors who are 13 years or older are allowed to attend, but they must be accompanied by an adult. The duration of the workshop is two hours.

Registration for the workshop has closed. For those interested in future events, it is recommended to check Spinagu's official website or social media channels for announcements.
