Million Stories Campaign Celebrates Global Impact of International Education
A new global campaign aims to highlight the power of international education beyond politics and societal divides. The Million Stories initiative, led by Made Impact, will officially launch at The PIE Live Europe 2026 to gather personal accounts from students, alumni, and educators worldwide.
The campaign plans to collect one million real-life stories showcasing the impact of international education. With around 6.3 million students studying abroad in 2023, according to UNESCO, the initiative seeks to capture the breadth of these experiences. Founding partners like Alliance Abroad, AIFS, and the Alliance for International Exchange will help drive its mission forward.
At the launch, the first 250 participating organisations will attend an International Education & Exchange Summit at the United Nations in New York. Emerging storytellers will also join the event, taking part in an intensive training programme to document global education journeys. The World Storytellers Project will play a key role by training young content creators to share these experiences. Jane Gilham, co-founder of The PIE, expressed enthusiasm for supporting the movement, while Chris Arnold, founder of Made Impact, praised The PIE's credibility as a partner. The campaign builds on past national efforts, such as #WeAreInternational and Study UK, but expands them into a decade-long global push.
The Million Stories campaign will gather personal narratives to demonstrate the lasting value of international education. After the launch, the collected stories will be shared widely to inspire future generations of students and educators. The initiative aims to create a lasting record of how cross-border learning shapes lives.
