Rockin' Through Reporting: Your A-Z Guide to Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) for Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) iGaming Entities
MGA's Guideline for Filing Reports on Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Incidents
The Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) has dropped a big one! They’ve just released a nifty manual loaded with juicy details on how to tackle Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) proceedings, the cool kid method for settling disputes out of court. This guide empowers MGA licensees with the lowdown on what to do, how to do it, and where to do it - all in the Licensee Portal on their website.
What's the Deal with ADR?
ADR is like the peacemaker in a tight spot, a process that helps squash beefs without the drama of court. ADR includes techniques such as mediation, arbitration, and conciliation. It's all about keeping things chill and resolving disputes with less formality and a quicker, more cost-effective process.
iGaming and ADR in Malta
ADR is like the perfect mixer in the iGaming scene in Malta. In 2018, the MGA dropped the Alternative Dispute Resolution Directive. This means iGaming companies operating in Malta must let players know about the wheres and hows of filing complaints and how to escalate them to an ADR entity - all for free!
Operators must report every dispute sent to an ADR entity along with the results to the MGA. The MGA's brand-new manual on reporting said, "Yo, we gotta know if a dispute went to ADR by the 20th of next month and expect the monthly report on player funds, along with details on the parties involved and the nature of the dispute."
SiGMA's ADR Stage
SiGMA just leveled up the game with their very own ADR platform - a service free for players with gambling squabbles involving licensed operators. SiGMA watched, learned, and knocked it out of the park by creating a user-friendly, trustworthy platform for players to handle their disputes.
Mex Emini, CTO of SiGMA Group and MD of SiGMA Play, explained it best, "Our goal is to hook 'em up, like we do at our events - connecting players with operators. Helping 'em resolve disputes, strengthen relationships, that's our big mission."
