Mannheim’s Youth Academy Expands with Cutting-Edge 2026 Programme for Talented Teens

Mannheim’s Youth Academy has launched its new upper-level programme with an opening event at MVV Energie AG. For nearly 30 years, the institution—officially known as Stiftung Begabtenförderung Mannheim—has nurtured talent in sciences, humanities, culture, and civic engagement.

The academy offers a mix of interdisciplinary courses and socially relevant topics for motivated students from grade 10 upwards. Participants can join project groups exploring fields like Augmented Reality, experimental painting, Jewish history, and entrepreneurial skills. A lecture series also covers diverse subjects, from particle physics and generative AI to youth language in social media and the formation of the Milky Way.

Elective seminars provide further options, including democratic education workshops, Shakespeare analysis, resilience training, and independent scientific research. Special events this year feature a field trip to the German Armed Forces, a Sparks Lecture on biosciences, and a performance of the musical Cabaret. Organised by the city of Mannheim alongside partners in academia, culture, and industry, the programme will conclude with a joint closing ceremony on June 26, 2026.

The Youth Academy continues its tradition of fostering young talent through hands-on projects, expert-led lectures, and real-world experiences. The 2026 programme builds on nearly three decades of collaboration between education, industry, and civic leaders in Mannheim.
