Malaysian schoolchildren win gold at Bangkok Innovation Awards

Four Malaysian students have brought home two gold medals and a second-place finish in the Engineering category at the Bangkok Innovation Awards. The primary school pupils—Ilaneyan Yuvarajan, M. Theerchanna, Ilanarun Yuvarajan, and M. Elamaaran—competed against international teams with their creative projects. Their success has drawn praise from government officials and educators alike.

The students' victory was celebrated by Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri R. Ramanan, who described their achievement as proof of Malaysia's younger generation excelling through innovation. He highlighted how their ideas had made an impact on an international stage, reflecting both talent and dedication.

During a meeting with the young winners, Ramanan shared a personal moment when the pupils asked for his autograph as a memento. He also took the opportunity to acknowledge the crucial role played by their parents and teachers in guiding them to success. Ramanan expressed hope that this accomplishment would motivate more Malaysian youths to pursue innovation and global recognition. He believes such efforts will enhance the country's competitiveness in science and engineering fields.

The Bangkok Innovation Awards win marks a significant milestone for the students and their schools. While no recent records show how many other Malaysian schools have earned similar engineering honours, this success sets a benchmark for future participants. The government and education sector now look to these young innovators as examples of what can be achieved with determination and support.
