Students in Magdeburg enjoy one of the most affordable living situations in Germany. A 30-square-meter apartment costs just 374 euros, ranking third lowest among university cities.

Magdeburg, home to the Otto von Guericke University and the University of Applied Sciences Magdeburg-Stendal, offers students a significant advantage with its low rents. In contrast, the range for such an apartment across Germany varies greatly, from 296 euros in Chemnitz to 837 euros in Munich.

Berlin, another major student city, sees average rents for a 30-square-meter student apartment around 664 euros per month, according to the MLP Studenten-Wohnungs-Report and the Institut der deutschen Wirtschaft. This is notably higher than in Magdeburg. Only Bochum and Chemnitz offer lower rents for a 30-square-meter apartment among German university cities.

Magdeburg's affordable rent, at 374 euros for a 30-square-meter apartment, provides a substantial benefit to students, making it an attractive option for higher education in Germany.
