Magadan Hosts Regional Abilympics to Showcase Skills of People with Disabilities
The regional Abilympics skills championship has officially begun in Magadan. Over 100 contestants are taking part in 17 different professional categories. The event highlights the talents of people with disabilities and special needs. The competition is being held at the College of Service and Technology. Organisers include the presidential platform Russia – Land of Opportunity and the Ministry of Education. Russian Education Minister Sergei Kravtsov sent a welcome message to all participants.
Beyond the skills contests, attendees will join a business, cultural, and sports programme. The National Abilympics Competence Center supports these championships, helping to develop professional abilities among those with disabilities. The Abilympics movement has been active in Russia for 11 years. It operates under the federal project **Professionalism**, part of the national initiative **Youth and Children**. By 2026, every one of Russia's 89 regions will have either hosted or participated in Abilympics events.
This year's championship in Magadan brings together 129 competitors. The event aims to promote professional growth and inclusion for people with disabilities. Organisers continue to expand the programme's reach across the country.
