Lüneburg families explore secondary school options at upcoming events
Families in Lüneburg District and the Hanseatic City of Lüneburg will soon have the chance to explore secondary school options for their children. A series of information events in February and March aims to help parents and pupils make informed choices before registration opens in April and May 2026.
The transition from primary to secondary school marks a major step for young students. To support families, local authorities have organised events at secondary schools across the region. These sessions will cover a wide range of institutions, from lower secondary and intermediate schools to grammar schools, comprehensive schools, and private providers.
Attendees can expect details on subjects, after-school clubs, and special support programmes. Information on transport links to each school will also be available. A full schedule of dates and venues is listed online at www.ourwebsite/school-events.
Registration for Integrated Comprehensive Schools (IGS) will take place on April 27–28, 2026. IGS Embsen and IGS Lüneburg have earlier slots on April 23–24. For all other school types, registration opens slightly later, on May 5–6, 2026.
The events provide an opportunity for families to gather key details before making decisions. With registration deadlines approaching in late April and early May, parents are encouraged to attend and review the online resources for a smooth transition to secondary education.
