Lufthansa Aviation Training Extends Cooperation with Swiss Air Force
Lufthansa Aviation Training (LAT) has renewed its partnership with the Swiss Air Force for another five years. The extended agreement, running until mid-2030, will provide tailored civil aviation training for military pilots entirely within Switzerland. The programme combines civil and military standards to meet the Air Force’s specific needs.
The training follows a structured 43-week Frozen ATPL curriculum. It is split into four phases: theoretical instruction, multi-engine training, single-engine training, and a Multi-Crew Cooperation (MCC) course.
LAT will oversee the theoretical lessons and multi-engine sessions using the Diamond DA42 aircraft. Meanwhile, the Swiss Air Force will handle single-engine training on the Pilatus PC-7. This division ensures pilots gain experience across different aircraft types. The collaboration builds on a long-standing relationship, adapting civil aviation expertise to military requirements. All training will remain based in Switzerland, maintaining efficiency and consistency for the Air Force’s pilot development.
The renewed five-year deal secures continued training support for Swiss military pilots until 2030. The programme’s blend of civil and military methods aims to produce well-rounded aviators. Training will remain fully operational within Switzerland, ensuring no disruption to the Air Force’s schedules.
