Lisa-Maria Sommer-Fein Named New General Secretary of MEGA Education Foundation
The Minecraft Education Foundation has announced Lisa-Maria Sommer-Fein as its new General Secretary, effective October 13, 2025. Sommer-Fein, aged 34, succeeds Andreas Ambros-Lechner who has led the foundation since 2019. This year, the foundation is allocating one million euros to innovative educational projects focused on economic and financial education.
Under Ambros-Lechner's leadership, the foundation has funded numerous projects promoting fairness and economic education, investing over ten million euros. The foundation, a joint initiative of the B&C Private Foundation and the Berndorf Private Foundation, supports educational innovations in these areas for young people in Austria.
This year, a jury has nominated six projects from 80 submissions for funding. An open online voting, taking place from September 12 to October 7, will determine the winners. The three winning projects will each receive 200,000 euros in growth funding, while the other three nominees will each receive 80,000 euros. All six projects will also benefit from coaching and further training support.
Lisa-Maria Sommer-Fein takes over as General Secretary at a time when the foundation is actively supporting innovative educational projects in economics and finance. Her appointment comes as the foundation continues its commitment to promoting fairness and economic competence among young people in Austria.
