Leadership Change at the Green Youth: Focus on the Upcoming Municipal Election
Green Youth Wolfenbüttel/Salzgitter has reshuffled its leadership and set its sights on the 2026 local elections. The youth organisation, one of the largest in Lower Saxony’s Green Party, elected a new executive board at its recent general meeting. Several members will now stand as candidates in upcoming municipal races.
At the meeting, 17-year-old Jo Schröder was re-elected as spokesperson, while Noelle Kaczmarek, 21, joined as the new co-spokesperson. Maxim Guraj, also 17, moved from his spokesperson role to treasurer, and 18-year-old David Ben Tov took on the position of political director. The group also honoured outgoing board members Greta Borschers and Lova Hübner for their contributions.
The organisation has already named candidates for next year’s elections. Nico Söhnel will run for seats on the Wolfenbüttel district council, the Baddeckenstedt collective municipality, and the Elbe municipal council. Meanwhile, Maxim Guraj will campaign for Wolfenbüttel’s city council, and Noelle Kaczmarek will stand for both the city and district councils. Green Youth Wolfenbüttel/Salzgitter has outlined clear priorities for its election push. The group aims to bring younger voices into local government while advocating for climate-friendly policies, affordable housing, and stronger democratic participation. With the 2026 municipal elections approaching, the chapter is focusing its efforts on mobilising support in the region.
The newly elected board will now prepare for the 2026 local elections. Candidates have been confirmed for multiple councils across Wolfenbüttel and surrounding areas. The organisation’s push for youth representation and policy change will shape its campaign in the coming months.
