Launch Announcement: Campus Representative Initiative Unveiled

Islamabad launches Federal Tax Ombudsman's Campus Ambassador Programme to promote transparency in tax culture

In an innovative move, the Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO) Secretariat has launched the Campus Ambassador Programme, aiming to strengthen and elevate the tax culture of Pakistan. This first-of-its-kind initiative serves as a connection between academic institutions and public service.

Following the appointment of Almas Ali Jovindah, Advisor (Legal) and Executive Secretary of the Forum of Pakistan Ombudsman and the OIC Ombudsman Association, the FTO office has consistently emphasized remarkable talents. Jovindah believes that youth are the key drivers of our society, and harnessing their potential is essential for institutional growth and national development.

The Campus Ambassadors were selected through a nationwide competitive process from nearly 2,000 applicants. Originating from 32 academic institutions, the chosen 39 students will partake in a six-month engagement, aiming to bridge the gap between academic institutions and public service.

The FTO Secretariat recently organized an orientation and training event in Islamabad. The selected Campus Ambassadors participated enthusiastically and contributed fresh perspectives. During the session, Almas Ali Jovindah encouraged the ambassadors to serve as informed and accountable liaisons between their institutions and the FTO.

Initially, the ambassadors will concentrate on educating students regarding the role of the Ombudsman. As time progresses, their focus will shift to raising awareness about the Federal Tax Ombudsman, focusing on tax rights and responsibilities. Jovindah's inspiring address underscored the importance of civic responsibility, leadership, and trust-building.

This initiative marks a significant milestone in fostering awareness, accountability, and active citizenship. The FTO Secretariat anticipates working closely with its Campus Ambassadors to bolster a stronger, more transparent tax culture in Pakistan. This collaborative effort stems from the Forum of Pakistan Ombudsman and the Federal Tax Ombudsman.

By engaging students in tax awareness, the programme intends to foster accountability and transparency within Pakistan's tax system, boost tax compliance, empower youth, and build trust in public institutions. In sum, the Campus Ambassador Programme represents a critical tool for cultivating an informed and compliant tax culture in Pakistan, leveraging young leaders to drive positive change.
