Krasnodar Region Graduates Commemorate Heroic Alumnus, Eugene Ostapenko

Over 100,000 students from the Krasnodar region's 11th and 9th grades marked their final school day today, preparing to make their first independent life choices. Many will choose military academies and commit to serving their country, whilst others will pursue civilian professions. According to the Krasnodar region administration's press service, Veniaamin Kondratyev, the occasion calls for pride and confidence in the graduates' abilities to make the right decisions, ensuring their success in the future.

The Timashevsky Cossack Cadet Corps, named after its alumnus, the late Hero of Russia, Eugene Ostapenko, played a significant role in shaping the graduates' character and resilience. Ostapenko, who graduated from the institution in 2022, spent his military career culminating in commanding a reconnaissance group during the SVO (Special Military Operation). His bravery earned him the highest title of Hero of Russia, and in early May, a memorial plaque was unveiled in his honor.

On this day three years ago, Ostapenko, like the graduates, stood amongst his peers. Though he could have chosen any profession, he chose to serve his country, ultimately sacrificing his life for the opportunity of the following generations to walk under the final school bell. Kondratyev urged graduates to uphold Cossack traditions and take responsibility for Kuban and Russia, adding that the nation is in good hands with their determination.

The memorial ceremony included speeches from Irina Ostapenko, the mother of the late hero, Anna Minkova, the deputy head of the region, and Elena Vorobyeva, the Minister of Education and Science. Irina Ostapenko addressed the graduates, encouraging them to pursue their dreams and cherish their heritage, with a heartfelt message of pride and love for all the graduates.

The Timashevsky Cossack Cadet Corps, home to over 180 students, offers a well-rounded educational experience with amenities including comfortable dormitories, comprehensive learning facilities, sports grounds, a medical office, and a dining hall. The institution ensures its students receive a thorough education and the necessary tools to shape their future, as they follow in the footsteps of heroes like Eugene Ostapenko.

  1. The Timashevsky Cossack Cadet Corps, a place that nurtured the resilience of late Hero of Russia, Eugene Ostapenko, offers a unique blend of education-and-self-development and sports, preparing students for general-news worthy careers while upholding Cossack traditions.
  2. As the graduates of the Krasnodar region embark on their independent lives, they would do well to learn from the life of Eugene Ostapenko, who chose military service over other civilian professions, demonstrating his patriotism and courage in the sports field and beyond, ultimately earning him the highest title of Hero of Russia.
