Komi Republic sends 1,000 Arctic children to Black Sea summer camps
This summer, over 61,000 school-age children in the Komi Republic participated in health and recreation programs. Among them, more than 1,000 children from the region's four Arctic municipalities enjoyed free trips to southern Russia. The initiatives included a mix of work-and-rest camps, school-based activities, and residential stays.
A key highlight of the summer was the focus on trips to the Black Sea coast. These excursions were prioritised to give children from remote Arctic regions a chance to experience warmer climates. Meanwhile, the Chernomorskaya Zorya camp played a central role, hosting six full sessions and operating year-round.
The summer programs in Komi provided health and recreational opportunities for thousands of children. With new funding and infrastructure projects underway, the region aims to strengthen its camp facilities ahead of next year. The initiatives ensure broader access to leisure and development activities for young residents.
