Komi Launches 26 Free Vocational Courses to Tackle Skill Shortages
The Komi Employment Center, Rabota Rossii, has opened enrollment for 26 vocational training programs under the national Personnel project. This initiative aims to equip job seekers with in-demand skills while supporting regional employers. Five new courses, including training for mining specialists and AI systems operators, were added just this week. The expanded program list reflects Komi's involvement in a federal push to modernise employment services. By improving connections between job seekers and companies, the project seeks to shorten hiring times and fill vacancies more effectively. High demand persists for roles in IT, such as 1C developers and unmanned aerial systems operators, alongside social professions like care assistants and junior nurses.
Participants receive full support from *Rabota Rossii* centres, from choosing the right course to securing employment after graduation. To qualify, candidates must meet eligibility requirements, obtain a recommendation from the employment office, and have a guaranteed job placement upon completion. Irina Rybina, head of the regional *Rabota Rossii* centre, explained that the Republic's Labour Ministry selects courses based on direct feedback from Komi employers. This ensures training aligns with real labour market needs. The number of available places will rise significantly in 2026, with 320 spots—over 2.5 times more than in 2025.
The initiative offers job seekers access to targeted training while helping local businesses address skill shortages. With expanded course options and increased capacity, the program aims to strengthen Komi's workforce in key sectors. Enrollment is now open for those meeting the criteria.
