Khabarovsk students shine at 15th Living Classics Recitation Contest
Thirty-two schoolchildren from Khabarovsk Territory recently competed in the regional finals of the Living Classics Recitation Contest. The event, now in its 15th year, encourages young people across Russia to engage with literature. Students from grades 5 to 11 took part, representing 17 different municipalities. Participants recited memorised passages from Russian and international authors, with works ranging from the 18th to the 21st century. The jury assessed performances based on artistic delivery, clear diction, depth of interpretation, and emotional connection to the text.
Arseny Dorozhkin secured first place and will now advance to the national finals. Eva Berezhnaya and Timur Barkevich also earned top honours, joining him as representatives for Khabarovsk Territory. The national competition is scheduled for May at the Artek International Children's Center. The contest continues to grow, fostering a love of reading among young Russians. This year's regional winners will travel to Artek to compete against finalists from across the country. Their performances will showcase both literary talent and dedication to the written word.
