Kentucky Launches $20,000 Prize to Honor Top High School Teachers
A new award, the Outstanding High School Teacher Prize, is set to honour Kentucky’s top educators. The Prichard Committee for Academic Excellence has launched this prize, offering a substantial cash reward. Nominations are now open to the public, including teachers who wish to put themselves forward.
The prize will recognise teachers who have made a significant difference in their schools and communities. It carries a $20,000 cash award for the winning teacher, with an extra $5,000 going to their school. The honour is named in memory of Edward F. Prichard, Jr., Dr. Lee Kirkpatrick, and Miss Zerelda Noland.
Nominations will remain open until March 31. The winner will be announced at the Prichard Committee’s annual meeting in June 2026. The award is funded by Mr. Prichard’s sons, continuing their family’s commitment to education in Kentucky.
The Outstanding High School Teacher Prize highlights the vital role of educators in shaping students’ futures. The winning teacher will receive $20,000, and their school will gain an additional $5,000. The award ceremony will take place at the committee’s annual gathering next year.
