Kazakhstan's New Competence Center Bridges Skills Gap in Kyzylorda
A new Competence Center has opened in Kyzylorda, marking a significant step in Kazakhstan's push for skilled workforce development. Built under the President's initiative during the Year of Skilled Professions, the facility aims to address the regional shortage of trained specialists. Local officials have highlighted its role in bridging education and industry needs. The two-storey centre was constructed using recovered assets. It can host up to 1,000 people, making it suitable for large-scale conferences and forums. Inside, students gain hands-on experience with modern technologies, preparing them for in-demand technical roles.
Nurlbek Nalibayev, the regional akim, emphasised that tackling the skilled labour gap remains a top state priority. The centre will act as a shared hub for vocational schools and businesses, ensuring training aligns with market requirements. Its advanced infrastructure provides ideal conditions for both learners and educators. The Kyzylorda region already supports over 20,000 students across 28 colleges. These institutions cover a wide range of specialisations, from engineering to service industries. While this is the first such centre in the area, no further details have been released about similar projects in other Kazakh regions.
The Competence Center is now operational, offering a direct link between education and employment. Its focus on practical training and industry collaboration aims to produce a more qualified workforce. The facility's capacity and modern equipment position it as a key resource for the region's economic growth.
