Kazakhstan’s National Academy of Sciences Overhauls Structure for 2035 Vision
Kazakhstan’s National Academy of Sciences (NAS RK) has undergone a major restructure as part of its newly approved Development Strategy until 2035. The reforms include new research divisions, international centres, and digital tools to improve scientific planning and regional collaboration. A key focus has been on addressing gaps in research alignment and resource efficiency.
The NAS RK began by restructuring its organisational model into four specialised divisions. Alongside this, the NAS RK Analytics and Foresight Platform was developed to track state-funded research areas and competency hubs in real time. The platform aims to provide clearer oversight of ongoing projects and resource allocation.
The restructured NAS RK now operates with clearer divisions, digital monitoring tools, and a stronger focus on regional needs. The adoption of foresight methods and interdisciplinary programs seeks to reduce inefficiencies and better align research with national goals. These steps are expected to improve collaboration between science, industry, and regional development efforts.
