Kazakhstan joins Asia-Pacific pact to streamline higher education recognition
Kazakhstan has officially joined the Asia-Pacific Regional Convention on the Recognition of Qualifications in Higher Education. The Mazhilis, the country’s lower house of parliament, ratified the agreement to improve academic mobility and simplify diploma recognition across borders. The move brings Kazakhstan into a framework designed to boost transparency in education standards.
The convention sets clear rules for member states. They must recognize higher education qualifications from other participating countries. National information centers will be established to share details on education systems, accredited universities, and quality checks. Regular updates on these areas are mandatory under the agreement.
The ratification marks Kazakhstan's formal commitment to the convention's principles. National information centers will now be set up to facilitate data exchange on education systems. The country's reservations, however, mean certain recognition rules will not apply in full.
