J&K Students Association Writes To PM Modi Seeking Safety For Indian Medical Students Amid Bangladesh Protests
The Jammu and Kashmir Students Association (JKSA) has called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi to protect Indian medical students stranded in Bangladesh. Growing unrest and violence in Dhaka have left around 9,000 students, including over 4,000 from the Kashmir Valley, facing movement restrictions and rising fear.
JKSA has written directly to the Prime Minister, requesting immediate action to safeguard the students. The Association has also urged the Ministry of External Affairs and the Indian High Commission in Dhaka to work with Bangladesh’s government for their security.
Distress calls from students and families have highlighted the worsening situation. Many report feeling trapped due to protests and violence, with limited options for safe movement. The Association stressed that these students are future doctors who will serve India’s healthcare system. If conditions deteriorate further, JKSA has called for their evacuation to ensure safety. They expressed confidence in the Indian government’s ability to protect citizens abroad during crises.
The appeal comes as protests in Bangladesh continue to disrupt daily life. With thousands of Indian medical students at risk, the Association’s request focuses on coordinated efforts between Indian authorities and local missions. Their priority remains the safe return or protection of students until stability is restored.
