Fox & Friends chats with Gregg Jarrett: Trump's frenzy with Harvard over international student rant

International student agreement with Harvard University could be revealed in a week, according to statements made by former president Trump.

Legal analyst Gregg Jarrett spills the beans on the Trump-Harvard drama revolving around international students' visas.

On Friday afternoon, President Donald Trump took to Truth Social, teasing a possible agreement with the Ivy League powerhouse, Harvard University. The President hinted that a deal could drop within the week, stating: "Many people have been asking what's brewing between Harvard University and its questionable antics. A solution is in sight!"

Delighting in the progress, Trump praised the university's responsiveness, praising its leadership for "righteously" adhering to negotiations. In his post, the President claimed that, if resolved via a settlement, it would be "staggeringly" historic and advantageous for the country.

In response to the President's announcement, the Trump administration froze around $2 billion in grants and contracts after Harvard University state its refusal to comply with federal demands regarding anti-Semitism[1].

*TRAILBLAZING COURT VICTORY FOR HARVARD UNI*

As this battleground unfolded, Federal Judge Allison Burroughs put the brakes on Trump's executive order, enabling Harvard University to keep hosting international students. This decision marks a significant triumph for the prestigious institution, which has been wrestling with the administration's restrictions.

"This court order keeps the doors open for Harvard to admit and graduate international students, as the legal battle proceeds," a Harvard representative stated to our Digital team. The temporary court order stays in effect until the case is resolved on its merits[2].

*MORE COURT SCRAPS WITH TRUMP IN SIGHT?

Harvard University sued the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), contesting the revocation of Harvard's Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP). Absent the program, current and prospective international students would be barred from attending the university.

Harvard claimed the revocation was the culmination of a retaliatory campaign by the Trump administration on academic freedom at Harvard. The school alleged that the administration violated its own regulations for withdrawing certification[3].

In court, attorneys argued that the policy infringes on the university's Due Process and First Amendment rights. Specifically, Harvard claimed its constitutional right to remain free from retaliatory action for protected speech, as well as violating the Administrative Procedures Act (APA)[4].

The order barred the revocation from negatively impacting visa applications, denying entry to the U.S., or being used as a reason for asserting a visa holder has forfeited their non-immigrant status.

Harvard University declined to comment on President Trump's social media announcement[5].
