Inspiring History Teaching Awards Now Open for Nominations
The Inspiring History Teaching Awards, a collaborative effort by Historic Royal Palaces (HRP), the Historical Association, and other organisations, are now open for nominations. These awards aim to recognize and celebrate outstanding history teachers across the UK who make history engaging, inclusive, and meaningful for their students.
Teachers from all career levels and settings, including primary, secondary, further education, special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), and additional support needs (ASN), are encouraged to participate. Nominations can be submitted by anyone over 18, such as colleagues, parents, governors, or even the teachers themselves. The deadline for submissions is Sunday 25 January 2026.
The awards will be presented at a prestigious ceremony at the Tower of London on Saturday 20 June 2026. Ten winners, selected by a national judging panel led by Lucy Worsley and joined by respected historians and educators, will each receive £500 and £500 for their school. Additionally, they will be granted memberships to HRP and the Historical Association. The overall national winner will receive an extra £500 and a lifetime HRP membership.
The Inspiring History Teaching Awards are an opportunity to acknowledge and reward educators who inspire a love for history in their students. If you know a teacher who deserves recognition, don't hesitate to submit a nomination before the deadline.
