Innovative schools win RWW TUK Awards for bold environmental projects

A new sustainability competition, the RWW TUK Awards, has recognized schools and community groups for their environmental efforts. The awards celebrated projects focused on water conservation, climate action, and healthy hydration. Three winners were chosen for their creative approaches to promoting tap water and eco-friendly practices.

The first-place prize went to Bottrop Vocational College for its campaign 'BKB goes green'. The school transformed its grounds with upcycled materials, including repurposed benches and raised garden beds. Plans are also underway to add a second water dispenser, encouraging students to drink more tap water. Beyond that, the schoolyard is being redeveloped to support pollinators, with new bee-friendly spaces replacing clutter.

The winning projects demonstrate practical ways to promote sustainability and healthy habits. Bottrop Vocational College, Rheinbabenschule, and Grafenwald Elementary School each took different approaches to water conservation and environmental education. Their efforts now serve as examples for future participants in the RWW TUK Awards.
