India’s record foodgrain output transforms agriculture with tech and infrastructure

India’s agricultural sector has seen major growth in infrastructure and production over the past year. By June 2025, nearly 6,000 new Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) were registered, while over 73,000 were digitised. These developments come as the country records its highest-ever foodgrain output.

In 2024-25, India produced a record 353.96 million tonnes of foodgrains, including 117.51 million tonnes of wheat and 149.07 million tonnes of rice. This surge in output has driven expansion in storage and processing facilities across the country.

These expansions in storage, processing, and digitisation aim to strengthen India’s food security and agricultural efficiency. With record production and growing infrastructure, the sector continues to play a central role in the country’s economy and employment.
