Increased Road Accidents Near PP Ravensburg School: Police Chief Urges Caution Among Motorists as School Year Begins
In the bustling town of Ravensburg, a call for heightened vigilance and consideration on the roads has been issued by Police President Uwe Stürmer, as the new school year approaches. This appeal comes as part of a broader road safety education campaign, aimed at ensuring that students are well-equipped for their school journeys.
The Police Headquarters Ravensburg has partnered with various organisations to provide road safety information tailored for children. These resources can be found on their websites, offering valuable insights to help young road users navigate the streets safely.
In a bid to enhance safety around schools, the Ravensburg Police Directorate has announced an increased police presence on school streets for the start of the 2025 school year. While the specific focus of this deployment remains somewhat vague, it is clear that the primary objective is to ensure the safety of students during this critical period.
Unfortunately, the first seven months of 2025 have seen a significant increase in school route accidents in Ravensburg. Compared to the same period last year, the number of accidents has risen from 24 to 42, resulting in a total of 46 injuries, with one person being seriously hurt.
It's crucial for children who cycle to school to ensure their bicycles are equipped with functioning lights and that they wear visible clothing with reflective elements, especially as the days grow shorter. Parents are also urged to exhibit safe behaviour and point out potential hazards to their children.
Interestingly, more than half of the injured were cycling, followed by pedestrians, motorcyclists, and e-scooter users. A troubling trend emerges when considering the demographic of those injured, as the majority were children under the age of 14.
To address these concerns, the police will increase their presence on school routes and conduct corresponding checks at the start of the school year. For media inquiries, the Public Relations Department of the Police Headquarters Ravensburg can be contacted.
As we embark on this new school year, let's all do our part to ensure the safety of our children and fellow road users. By exercising caution and consideration, we can help make Ravensburg's roads a safer place for everyone.
