In global rankings of digital competencies, Kazakhstan holds the 37th position.
Hear it straight: Kazakhstan's digital and professional skills are making waves on a global scale! Our beloved central Asian nation has clinched the 37th spot in the updated Coursera Global Skills Report 2025, as reported on our site and confirmed by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.
Now, you might ask, what's so special about this report? Well, it's based on the analysis of learners on the Coursera platform, with over 170 million users from 109 countries.
Digging deeper, Kazakhstan ranks a respectable 51st in the new AI Maturity Index, showcasing the country's readiness for AI. It's clear that Kazakhstan is nurturing talent to be at the forefront of the digital revolution!
There's been a significant surge in interest in key future directions. Learning in generative AI increased by a staggering 383%, cybersecurity by 80%, critical thinking by 43%, and the number of professional certificates earned has swelled by 50%!
What's more, the report unveils the level of digital inclusion in Kazakhstan: 56% of Coursera users are women, and a whopping 62% learn using mobile devices.
Most of this progress is due to the implementation of the state program Coursera Qazaqstan, under the watchful eye of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Over three years, 167,372 students have been trained through the platform, and 288,347 certificates have been issued. The separate AI track AI Sana has granted 47,399 certificates in 2025 alone, highlighting the youth's interest in advanced technologies.
It's important to note that the Coursera 2025 report employs the newly updated 3.0 methodology, which merges learner behavioral data with macroeconomic indicators such as human capital index, GDP per capita, labor market participation rate, and Global Innovation Index. For the first time, the AI Maturity Index is presented, assessing countries' readiness for AI adoption based on Coursera data, as well as data from the IMF and OECD.
