IIT JAM 2026 counselling opens March 27 for 3,000+ PG seats

Registration for IIT JAM 2026 counselling begins on March 27, 2026. The process will allocate over 3,000 seats across 105 postgraduate programmes at 22 Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). Candidates who meet the qualifying cutoff marks can apply before the April 15 deadline.

Applicants must submit their counselling forms through the JOAPS platform. The registration fee is ₹750, and the last date to apply is April 15, 2026. Those who qualify will compete for seats in MSc, MSc Tech, Joint MSc-PhD, dual degree, and integrated PhD programmes.

To secure a seat, candidates must pay a booking fee by the given deadline. General, OBC-NCL, and EWS applicants will pay ₹15,000, while SC, ST, and PwD candidates pay ₹7,500. Failure to pay on time will result in cancellation, and the seat will be offered to another candidate. The final step requires freezing seat choices by May 6, 2026. Exact qualification criteria for the 3,000-plus seats remain unspecified in official sources.

The counselling process will run from March 27 to May 6, 2026. Candidates must complete registration, pay fees, and lock their choices within the given deadlines. Non-compliance at any stage will lead to seat forfeiture.
