IIM Ranchi launches AI teaching centre to revolutionise business education
IIM Ranchi has taken a major step in modernising business education with the launch of its Centre for Teaching with Artificial Intelligence. The new centre was unveiled at the Bharat Bodhan AI Conclave 2026 by the Hon'ble Union Minister of Education, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan. Its mission is to transform how AI is used in teaching, curriculum design, and industry partnerships.
The centre's work will revolve around three core areas: Teaching & Pedagogical Innovation, Curriculum Development, and Industry & Executive Engagement. Faculty will receive training to embed AI tools into their teaching methods, while students will benefit from AI-supported experiential learning models. The goal is to build AI literacy across the institute, ensuring both educators and learners can leverage the technology effectively.
This initiative follows IIM Ranchi's earlier move in 2025 to replace traditional mid-term exams with an AI-enabled, assignment-based evaluation system. The shift marked the institute's first major integration of AI into its academic framework.
Beyond academics, the centre will foster collaborations with industries to promote responsible AI adoption. By bridging gaps between education and real-world applications, it aims to set new standards for AI-driven business learning in India.
The launch positions IIM Ranchi as a leader in AI-enhanced business education. The centre's focus on curriculum innovation, faculty training, and industry ties will shape how future managers and executives engage with AI. Its long-term impact will depend on how effectively these initiatives are adopted across programmes and partnerships.
