Hünfeld's puppet shows bring joy and nature lessons to young children

Hünfeld's youngest residents are enjoying a series of puppet shows this year, thanks to support from the Wella Cultural Foundation. The Kistenhausen Puppet Theater from Flieden is performing for 670 children aged three to six across the town's daycare centres.

The latest performance, Robber Franz's Forest, took place with Mayor Benjamin Tschesnok and City Councilor Karin Grosch in attendance. Both wished the children an enjoyable time as they watched, sang along, and applauded the puppeteers. The show teaches lessons about protecting nature and treating animals with care.

A total of 16 puppet shows will run in all nine daycare centres until November. Plans are already in place for another production at Hünfeld's elementary schools next year. The Wella Cultural Foundation has funded children's theatre in Hünfeld since 2003. Over the years, its contributions—totalling around €55,500—have allowed more than 13,600 local children to experience live performances. The foundation also supports similar projects in 12 other German cities, including Darmstadt, Frankfurt, and Wiesbaden.

The puppet theatre programme will continue to reach young audiences in Hünfeld for months to come. With ongoing funding, the initiative ensures that early childhood education includes creative and engaging experiences about nature and storytelling.
