How One Woman’s Digital Service Center Transformed a Rural Community

Lovely Rani, a tenacious entrepreneur from Haridebpur, has revolutionized access to digital services for thousands of villagers. Despite personal adversities, she founded the Haridebpur Union Digital Service Center, bringing crucial online tasks to the community's doorstep. The center now serves hundreds of people daily, reducing long travel times and simplifying paperwork for locals.

Lovely Rani's journey began amidst family struggles. Her father's illness with cancer coincided with the establishment of the digital service center, and her husband's accident left her as the sole provider. With no prior experience and limited income, she persevered, determined to create a solution for her community.

Haridebpur Union, 15 kilometers from Rangpur district town, is home to around 35,500 people—mostly farmers, with a few in other professions. Before the center opened, residents had to travel long distances for basic services like birth registration or university admissions. Now, the digital hub handles everything from land records to document copies, saving time and money. The center's impact grew rapidly. It employs eight men and women, offering jobs in a region where opportunities are scarce. Lovely also continued her education, earning a master's degree while managing the business. Despite early skepticism and criticism, her persistence turned the center into a vital resource for students, farmers, business owners, and daily wage earners.

The Haridebpur Union Digital Service Center now stands as a key service provider for the local population. It eliminates the need for costly trips to distant offices and supports a wide range of online tasks. Lovely Rani's efforts have not only improved access to digital services but also created jobs in her community.
