Honors Granted for Commendable Accomplishments: Amplonius Novus Makes Literature Donations
In the historic town of Rheinberg, five exceptional students have been honoured with the Amplonius Novus book grant for achieving a perfect Abitur score of 1.0. The recipients of this year's scholarship are Marvin Hild, Lena Becker, Sophie Schulz, Jonas Weber, and Anna Krüger.
Established in 2013, the Amplonius Novus scholarship is an annual award presented by the Amplonius Gymnasium foundation to young people from Rheinberg, aiming to facilitate the acquisition of books as they embark on their university studies. The scholarship is named after Amplonius, the learned book collector from Rheinberg, who lived in the 14th and 15th centuries and amassed the largest and most significant collection of medieval manuscripts north of the Alps.
During Amplonius' time, books were hand-copied as there was no printing press. Today, despite the digital age, the importance of books as repositories of knowledge remains undiminished. The Amplonius Novus scholarship is a testament to this enduring truth, designed to aid students in their quest for knowledge by providing financial assistance for book purchases.
This year, each of the five graduates will receive 100 euros to help them in their academic pursuits. Since the scholarship's inception in 2013, a total of 61 students, both male and female, have been awarded the Amplonius Novus book grant.
The Amplonius Gymnasium foundation invites applications for a one-year scholarship. Further information about the scholarship can be found on the foundation's homepage at www.amplonius-novus.de. The foundation also congratulates all graduates on their successful exams and wishes them luck and success for their future endeavours.
The Amplonius Novus book grant is a significant recognition of academic excellence and a tribute to the legacy of Amplonius, the medieval scholar from Rheinberg. The Bibliotheca amploniana, his collection of books, continues to contribute to his recognition and serves as an inspiration for the young scholars of today.
The Amplonius Novus scholarship, established in 2013, supports students' education-and-self-development and learning by providing funds for book purchases, reflecting its namesake's dedication to knowledge acquisition during his time. Each of the five honourees this year will utilize this financial aid in their academic pursuits, emulating the tradition started by Amplonius, the revered book collector from Rheinberg.
