Highline High's 2026 Scholarships Hit Record High with $10,000 Awards
The Highline High School Alumni Foundation has announced its largest-ever scholarship programme for 2026. A total of 150 students will receive awards, with some reaching up to $10,000. The funding covers academic excellence, financial need, and specialised fields like culinary arts.
This year's scholarships include multiple categories, from department-based and career-focused awards to leadership and need-based support. Most recipients will get $4,000, but the top prizes—$10,000 for academic excellence and $8,000 for financial need—stand out as the most generous.
A new addition is the Tony Hayes Classic Eats Culinary Arts scholarship. Named after the 2025 Distinguished Alumnus, it offers $4,000, a paid internship, a chef's knife kit, and a chef's jacket. The award will go to one graduating Highline Pirate each year.
Hayes earned the 2025 Distinguished Alumnus title for his leadership as a student and his ongoing contributions to the Highline community. His scholarship reflects the foundation's commitment to supporting both traditional and vocational pathways.
The 2026 programme marks a record in the foundation's history. With expanded funding and new awards, more students will access financial support for education and career development. The first Tony Hayes Culinary Arts scholarship will be granted to a graduate in the coming year.
