Günztal Career Fair Inspires 160 Students with Hands-On Workshops
Career Guidance Goes Beyond the Classroom—Günztal's Vocational Fair Celebrates a Decade of Success
The tenth edition of the Günztal Vocational Information Evening proved once again that career orientation is about far more than classroom theory. The event, recently held at Ober Günzburg Middle School, opened its doors to the skilled workers of tomorrow, reaffirming its status as a cornerstone of regional education. What began a decade ago as a local initiative has since grown into a firmly established fixture in the area's educational landscape.
For its tenth anniversary, the school stayed true to its proven approach: bridging theory and hands-on experience. Principal Bernhard Meyer opened the milestone event, emphasizing its core mission: "Our focus is on bringing businesses, students, and their families together in an uncomplicated way. Nothing can replace the value of personal exchange."
This year saw a new innovation—the school's auditorium was transformed into a central welcome hub. Participating companies showcased their offerings in a spacious exhibition area, giving students and parents an immediate, informal overview of the diverse employers on site before diving into in-depth workshops. This "trade fair atmosphere" lowered barriers to initial contact and set a dynamic tone for the evening.
Interest remained as strong as ever: nearly 160 students from Ober Günzburg and Unterthingau middle schools, Ober Günzburg secondary school, and the Don Bosco School in Marktoberdorf attended alongside their parents. They seized the opportunity to explore the world of over 30 regional and national companies. A total of 37 workshops provided a broad spectrum of insights—from technical and skilled trades to service industries, industrial careers, and vocational training programs.
The event's winning formula has held steady for a decade: in concise, engaging workshop sessions, company representatives presented their training pathways firsthand. But the organizers aimed for more than just information—they used practical examples to help young people challenge preconceptions and gain a tangible sense of daily work life in different fields.
Once again, the organizers ensured seamless execution. The fair has become a key pillar of their career guidance strategy, and this year's edition confirmed its value: direct dialogue remains the most effective way to help young people navigate their career choices while giving businesses the chance to meet their future talent.
