Grunschule Schaag Mosaikschule: Ausbaustart 2027
Aachen will soon have a new school building after hks architekten won a design competition. The firm was selected for its expertise in school construction and a high-quality draft plan. Work on the project, however, will not begin immediately.
The decision followed a competition among five architecture firms. hks architekten stood out due to their experience and a design that met the city’s needs. Their proposal included a flexible auditorium, which local clubs and associations in Schaag can also use—though with limited capacity.
Planning for the new building will start in March 2026. Yet, construction itself is unlikely to begin before mid-to-late 2027. The timeline reflects the need for thorough preparation before breaking ground.
The project marks a step forward for Aachen’s education infrastructure. Once complete, the school will serve both students and the wider community. For now, detailed planning remains the next key phase.
