Saarbrücken, Germany - September is shaping up to be an exciting month for learners in the city, as two new courses at the Saarbrücken Volkshochschule (VHS) are set to commence. The Lower Secondary School Leaving Certificate course will start at Bruchwiese Comprehensive School on September 2nd, while the Intermediate Education Certificate course will begin at Otto Hahn Gymnasium on September 1st.

Dr. Carolin Lehberger, the VHS's director, expressed her enthusiasm for the upcoming courses. She emphasised the VHS's commitment to providing opportunities for young and adult learners, regardless of age, origin, or previous educational paths.

The success of the VHS courses is evident in the recent results from Justizvollzugsanstalt Lerchesflur in Saarbrücken, where all seven participants of the vhs course passed their exams. Similarly, the success rate for the Lower Secondary School Leaving Certificate was impressive, with 12 out of 19 participants reaching their goal. Out of 25 candidates for the Intermediate Education Certificate, 21 successfully completed their studies, marking a new record for the VHS Saarbrücken.

While the specific requirements, costs, and duration for the new courses have not been disclosed, it is common for VHS courses to require a minimum level of prior education and appropriate language skills, often B1-B2 German proficiency. Proof of previous schooling or qualification may be necessary. The courses usually charge fees, which can range from a few hundred to around a thousand euros depending on course length and materials. They often last between one to two years, sometimes part-time, to accommodate working adults.

For exact and current details on the Saarbrücken VHS new courses, including specific entry requirements, tuition fees, and course length, it is best to consult the official Saarbrücken VHS website or contact their administration directly.

Meanwhile, registration for both courses is now open. Interested individuals can contact (0681) 506-4342 or email [email protected]. The Lower Secondary School Leaving Certificate course at Bruchwiese Comprehensive School will be held on Mondays to Wednesdays from 5:30 pm to 9:15 pm, while the Intermediate Education Certificate course at Otto Hahn Gymnasium will take place four evenings a week.

The certificates for the participants at Justizvollzugsanstalt Lerchesflur were presented during an internal event, while the certificate presentation for the Saarbrücken VHS participants took place at the vhs centre in Saarbrücken, attended by Dr. Carolin Lehberger and Nicole Boissier. This year, 40 participants from the VHS Regionalverband Saarbrücken have completed their school leaving certificates, a testament to the transformative power of education in Saarbrücken.

Intriguingly, around 40 percent of the Lower Secondary School graduates do not speak German as their first language, indicating successful integration through education. This achievement underscores the VHS's role in fostering a diverse and inclusive learning environment in Saarbrücken.

As the new academic year begins, the Saarbrücken VHS is poised to continue its mission of providing accessible, high-quality education to all learners. Whether you're a young student or an adult looking to further your education, there's a course for you at the Saarbrücken VHS.

  • Embracing the spirit of lifelong learning, the Saarbrücken VHS is offering two new courses – the Lower Secondary School Leaving Certificate and the Intermediate Education Certificate – commencing in September, signifying a commitment to education-and-self-development for individuals of all ages.
  • For those who wish to advance their education, the Saarbrücken VHS offers courses that cater to the needs of both young learners and adults, fostering an environment of inclusivity and diversity in education-and-self-development opportunities in Saarbrücken.
