German Men Unite in New Initiative to Fight Far-Right Radicalism Online
A new campaign called Men Against the Right has launched in Germany to challenge far-right influence among young men. The initiative, backed by the Federal Men’s Forum, the Saxony Boys and Men’s Work Group, and the SKM Federal Association, aims to counter extremist narratives with democratic values. Supporters can now share customised photos online to show their stance against right-wing radicalism.
The project’s first step is a Sharepic generator, letting users add personal statements to images before posting them on social media. Over 300 men have already shared their photos, including comedian Florian Hacke, who registered his support on the initiative’s website.
High-profile figures have also joined the cause. Among them are comedian Bastian Pastewka, TV host Joko Winterscheidt, musician Thees Uhlmann, and journalist Micky Beisenherz. These public endorsements aim to amplify the message and encourage wider participation. The campaign’s broader mission is to dismantle harmful traditional masculine roles that organisers argue damage both men and society. By offering alternatives to far-right recruitment tactics—such as the AfD’s online content promoting conservative gender roles—the initiative seeks to foster an open, democratic culture. Donations collected via the website will fund expanded online outreach and educational materials. Long-term plans include awareness campaigns to provide constructive alternatives to the problematic ideologies spread by right-wing groups. The organisers emphasise that men must actively oppose extremism to protect civil peace and societal progress.
The initiative has quickly gained traction, with hundreds of men publicly declaring their opposition to far-right currents. By combining digital tools, celebrity endorsements, and grassroots activism, the campaign aims to shift narratives and reduce extremist influence. Further steps will depend on public engagement and funding to sustain its outreach efforts.
